I got a call today. We all hate those calls where your loved one is upset and this call was just like that. Someone had stolen her purse, right from under her nose.
I tried to calm Peggy down and reassure her that this is nothing that can’t be fixed. Yes, it is a big, ugly inconvenience but it was nothing worse. No one got hurt.
As we talked, I asked Peggy to go to the police, call her bank and then drive behind the strip-mall she was shopping at. From my past experience, I found that most thieves take the purse, pull the cash from it and then toss the purse in the nearest trash can or dumpster.
So Peggy went to the police station and was filling out a report when the store she was shopping at called her. They said that a small boy playing behind the store (where I asked her to look) found the purse.
As Peggy looked through the now recovered purse, she found that the small amount of cash was truly the only thing missing. All her identification, cards, credit cards and license were still there, untouched. Praise the Lord.
Peggy found the young boy who recovered her belongings. His mother was doing laundry in the nearby laundry-mat. She gave him a small reward and thanked him over and over. Then she called me and told me the story. All I could say was “Thank You Jesus”.
